Journaling to Clear Life’s Clutter: A Compassionate, Creative Approach – Presentation at Expressive Arts Summit in L.A., California
March 30, 2017 @ 2:30 pm - 5:30 pm PDT
Event Navigation
Clutter is the excess baggage that drains life force. It gets in the way of living, and distracts from meaningful action. Physical and schedule clutter can reflect internal confusion, decisions we’d like to avoid, and uncomfortable feelings connected to losses, perceived injustices, or mistakes. Clearing clutter refers to the process of weeding out that which no longer serves us—in our homes, heads, hearts, and schedules. It releases and increases our vitality, clarity, and sense of well-being.
Marie Kondo’s best-selling book, The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying-Up offers a prescriptive process that has inspired and helped many. Others yearn for a more creative, personalized approach that recognizes the realities of a cluttered lifestyle.
This 3-hour workshop uses simple and powerful writing processes to support the clearing of clutter, inside and out. Together, we’ll clear a path with creative exercises designed to help transform a personal journal into a wise, encouraging, practical, and playful clutter-clearing companion. We’ll focus on techniques that can be used in an overall plan to move through a clutter project in your own way, at your own pace. This gentle approach incorporates the power of journal writing for healing, growth and change. It can be used at home with adolescents and adults and in a variety of clinical and educational settings. No prior journal experience is needed.
This is a workshop that is part of an Expressive Arts Summit being held in Los Angeles, CA March 30 – April 2, 2017. The exact time of the workshop on March 30 has not yet been solidified. Please see the event website for more details.
